Biochemical responses of Digitaria commutata and Cenchrus ciliaris to water stress: antioxidative reactions, proline and soluble sugars accumulation

چکیده
The impact of water stress on antioxidant enzyme activities, proline, soluble sugars, and carotenoids contents found in Digitaria commutata Cenchrus ciliaris plants was investigated. Two different watering regimes were used over a period three months. Water decreased total chlorophyll content plants, but increased content. Interestingly, no change observed the quantum yield PSII photochemistry (Fv/Fm). Malondialdehyde (MDA) to higher extent both species. Enhanced activities all enzymes (peroxidase, catalase, superoxide dismutase) studied, except for catalase roots observed. Proline sugars significantly following exposure. No clear differences between results link drought tolerance with better capabilities anti-oxidative system. Additionally, it is linked accretion osmoprotectants proline when exposed drought.

Physiological and biochemical responses of Quercus brantii seedlings to water deficit stress
Water shortage is one of the most important environmental stresses in Mediterranean regions. Poor seedling quality may account for the failure of oak regeneration. To determine the best seed origin of Quercus brantii, we investigated on seedlings collected from 20 mother trees in the Zagros Mountain forests 700 to 2200 m altitudes above sea level. Seedlings from different altitudes were irrig...
متن کاملPhysio-biochemical and Enzymatic Responses of Sunflower to Drought Stress
Drought stress is a serious adverse factor that limits sunflower growth and productivity. The stress induces a range of physiological and biochemical responses in sunflower. So, evaluation of defense systems is important for producing resistant cultivars. In this study, physio-biochemical changes and antioxidant enzymes activitiesof six sunflower lines were evaluated under normal and irrigation...

The possible involvement of activated oxygen species in the mechanism of damage by NaClstress was studied in leaves of two varieties of pea (Pisum sativum L.) cv. EC 33866 and Puget. Thelevel of lipid peroxidation, enzyme activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD, EC 1.15.1.1), ascorbateperoxidase (APX, EC 1.11.1.11), glutathione reductase (GR, EC 1.6.4.2), dihydroascorbate reductase(DHAR, 1.8.5.1)...

mechanisms of tolerance to water deficiency stress for introducing sunflower hybrid was investigated by a two-factor experiment as a split plot design based on rcbd was at the research station in alborz province, hashtgerd region, iran in 2013. irrigation rates (irrigation after 50, 100 and 150 mm cumulative evaporation from class a evaporation pan) were considered in the main plots and sunflow...
متن کاملDrought-induced Accumulation of Soluble Sugars and Proline in Two Maize Varieties
Drought stress is a major factor in reduce growth, development and production of plants. Stress was applied with polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 and water potentials were: zero (control), -0.15 (PEG 10%), -0.49 (PEG 20%), -1.03 (PEG 30%) and -1.76 (PEG40%) MPa. The solutes accumulation of two maize (Zea mays L.) cultivars -704 and 301were determined after drought stress. In our experiments, a hi...
